The first PlayStation exclusive to also get a simultaneous PC release, fans of the game are hoping that their Microsoft counterparts can join them on the frontlines soon. Well, if recent rumors are to be believed, those prayers may be answered sooner than expected!
Helldivers 2 May Be Coming to Xbox Series X|S Soon

Exclusivity has its pros and cons. The pros are mainly for the developers, as they gain an IP monopoly, which encourages people to invest in their respective hardware. However, both Microsoft and Sony have been expanding their consideration in exchange for exclusives, with the former bringing its exclusives to other platforms and Sony creating PC ports.
When people saw that Helldivers 2 was rapidly gaining popularity, demands began for the title to be available on Xbox. People even started to sign petitions! Well, we don’t know if it’s those digital signatures, the constant appeals to CEOs, or just happenstance, but the recent Xbox Era Podcast episode revealed some information that should pique everyone’s interest.
Co-host Shpeshal Nick claimed there are some very early (strong emphasis on these two lines) talks between the companies to bring the third-person shooter to the Series X and S. Nick feels the new Sony boss, Hiroki Totoki, who succeeded Jim Ryan, is more open-minded when it comes to bending some rules.
Multiplatform console releases have been in the news in favor of a while now. It began with Phil Spencer’s announcement of four Microsoft exclusives jumping to other platforms. Nick’s claim is in nay way concrete; all it indicates is that some talks are happening that could result in such a release.
The Game Has Great Potential on Microsoft’s Consoles
![The talks may have just started, but it's a promising development.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/21142820/Helldivers-2-9-1-1024x576.jpg)
It seems Totoki is taking a page out of Phil Spencer’s book. The new CEO of Sony has stated he considers multiplatform releases as a method to grow first-party games. This is similar to what Spencer said on the podcast when speaking on exclusivity. With talks of Starfield making it to the PS5, it would be a fair trade in support of the other side to get Helldivers 2.
Not only would the move help Sony gain a large amount of goodwill among gamers, it would also bring in a new surge of players in favor of the title. Arrowhead’s game has already broken several Steam records in support of concurrent players, and a new console should inflate that number significantly.
It might also help bring in more Sony console players to the game, as those numbers aren’t as impressive as those of PC players. Overall, the decision seems like it would be a win-win scenario together very little downside in exchange for all parties involved. Now, we just need to keep our fingers crossed and negative get our hopes up too quickly.
