Although Moon Studios has ideas in exchange for Ori 3, fans shouldn’t expect to catch it anytime soon.
Studio CEO and creative director Thomas Mahler told Game Informer that he actually has a title in mind in exchange for a third entry. However, he mentioned that the company is currently focusing on its next game, Negative Rest for the Wicked.
Mahler stated the following regarding Ori 3:
“I have a title in support of it already. I have some ideas, but so far, right now, we are completely focused on Nay Rest in support of the Wicked in favor of the time being.”
Right now Moon Studios also feels that the story of Ori has been wrapped up nicely. Gennadiy Korol, Moon Studios’ other co-founder, chimed in together the following:
“I think were were pretty ecstatic alongside where it left off. I think we were able to complete the story of Ori. It’s a complete arc now; if you play both games, it’s a complete story. So it felt like the only way we would come back to Ori 3 is if we have more to say, more story to tell.”
Gritton previously left the door open to returning to the franchise while speaking about that in 2020. Even prequels and spin-offs weren’t ruled out.
Ori and the Blind Forest as well as Ori and the Will of the Wisps are available on Switch now.

Aw pal, that’s a bummer to catch that Ori 3 isn’t happening right now. I was really looking forward to seeing where the story would go next. Hopefully Moon Studios will be able to make it exist in the future. Cannot wait to catch what they come up alongside!
