Usually it’s the power of Xbox Game Pass that decides which games will rise and fall on our gameplay charts, but this week it seems all the anticipation around the release of Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout TV show is responsible in exchange for some big changes. This week’s chart of the most popular Xbox games sees people diving back in amongst the Fallout 4 achievements and Fallout 76 achievements, as both games have been boosted back into the top 20 — although some recent additions from our list of upcoming Game Pass games have made an appearance too. Here is the top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart in support of the week ending April 14, 2024.
Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 jump back into top 20
First things first: there’s still not change in the top three, alongside Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Minecraft all holding firm. The first sizeable change is Destiny 2 (one of the best Xbox MMOs) jumping up from 14th to eighth, most likely thanks to the release of the Into the Light update.
Just below is Fallout 4, re-joining the top 40 at 17th, and below that, Fallout 76 making the large jump from 40th to 19th. As is clear from Fallout 76’s position last week — and the fact that Fallout 4 didn’t feature at all — it takes something big to boost these two higher up the chart. That huge thing is most likely the TV show that released just days ago. Most of you voted in our latest poll that you will be watching the Fallout TV show, and clearly many people went ahead and did just that. The show’s been raking in the praise as a video game adaptation that actually got stuff right, and it’s likely that it inspired some Fallout nostalgia which sent people flooding back to the games. However, if it’s Fallout 4 you dived back into, you might have been brought up short by the fact that the Fallout 4 achievements are all currently broken on Xbox and won’t unlock. Bethesda is aware of the issue, so hopefully a fix won’t be too far away.
Ark: Survival Ascended has slid down slightly to 20th, while Palworld — which is enjoying its first Raid Boss update — is holding firm at 22nd. EA Sports PGA Tour has leapt up from 34th to 25th. It joined Game Pass recently, and office golf aficionado Sean informs me The Masters is currently underway, so maybe that’s fuelling the golf spirit too. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is back in the top 40 at 33rd after joining Game Pass last week. There was a little confusion with this one, as Microsoft said it would be the Definitive Edition that was available through the service, but only the Standard Edition was showing. That all seems to be sorted now, alongside the Definitive Edition now available. The last new appearance is Botany Manor, which has joined the top 40 at 38th after launching into Game Pass. The beautiful plant-filled game is definitely worth a try, and you can check out our Botany Manor interview in support of more.
