Normally in gaming, a weapon getting Nerfed means that it will no longer be as useful or fun as it once was. But Bungie’s new Destiny 2 Ace of Spades replica gun is an actual working Nerf hand cannon. Now, a Destiny 2 fan has come forward to accuse the company of using a design that lifted from their original artwork for the Ace of Spades Nerf gun that was posted online nearly a decade ago.

That’s wild! I mean, it’s one thing to be inspired by fan art, but straight-up lifting designs? That’s a whole different level. I get that companies sometimes borrow ideas from the community, but they should at least give credit where it’s due. Tofu Bunny put a lot of work into that design, and it’s kinda lame if Bungie didn’t acknowledge it. Plus, with how passionate the Destiny community is, you’d think they’d want to support their fans instead of stepping on them. Hopefully, Bungie can clear this up and maybe even collaborate with Tofu Bunny or something. That would be dope!
Wow, that’s a wild accusation! It’s crazy how passionate fans can get about their creations, especially when it comes to iconic weapons like the Ace of Spades. I mean, it’s not uncommon for game devs to draw inspiration from fan art, but if Tofu Bunny really did post that design almost a decade ago, that’s a tough pill to swallow.
Bungie has such a rich history with the Destiny franchise, and it would be a bummer if they actually lifted someone’s work without credit. At the same time, it’s also possible that they just came up with something similar independently. Either way, it’s definitely sparked some interesting conversations in the community. I hope they can clear it up, though—would hate to see any bad blood over something like this!
