It’s honestly surprising to hear that both Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth didn’t hit the sales targets Square Enix was hoping for. I mean, both games were pretty well-received by fans and critics alike. I guess it just goes to show that even beloved franchises can struggle in today’s market. Maybe the competition is just too fierce, or perhaps there’s a disconnect between what the company thinks will sell and what fans actually want.
It’s a bummer because I know a lot of us were super hyped for these titles. It makes you wonder what they’ll do next—will they change their approach or double down on what they’ve been doing? Either way, I hope they keep pushing out quality content because the franchise has so much potential.
