Sony may have dropped support for the PS Vita faster than players had hoped for, but it still believes that the handheld was an “evolutionary leap forward in portable gaming.” In a webpage dedicated to PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, the company said that its goal was to offer “console-quality” gaming in a compact portable system.

The PS Vita was such an underrated gem in the gaming world. Sure, Sony pulled the plug on it faster than we wanted, but you can’t deny it was a game-changer for portable gaming. The graphics were insane for a handheld, and the library had some real bangers. It was like having a console in your pocket, which was mind-blowing back then.
It’s a shame it didn’t get the support it deserved, but it definitely paved the way for future handhelds. I still have mine, and I love revisiting those classic titles. Here’s hoping we see more innovation in portable gaming down the line!
