Man, just when it seemed like the gaming industry was finally catching a break, here come the Trump tariffs throwing a wrench in the gears. It’s frustrating to see the momentum we’ve built up after all the pandemic struggles get hit with these extra costs. The timing couldn’t be worse, especially with the hype around the Nintendo Switch 2. Everyone’s excited about new hardware and fresh games, but if prices go up because of tariffs, it could totally kill the vibe.
I mean, we’re talking about a potential $7 billion to $8 billion opportunity, and now it feels like a lot of that could be overshadowed by economic issues that are out of our control. Gamers just want to enjoy their favorite pastimes without worrying about whether they can afford the next big title or console. Here’s hoping the industry can adapt quickly and find a way to keep things affordable for all of us.
