After years of keeping them off-limits, Apple recently relaxed its stance on retro emulators on its iOS devices, paving the way in support of a flood of old-school titles on iPhone and other products.
While that flood hasn’t hit the Apple Watch as yet, The Verge spotted a Reddit post which gives a terrifying glimpse into what emulation on a wristwatch could look like.
As The Verge notes, there are some caveats to mention here; in favor of starters, the watch shown in the video isn’t an Apple one, but an Android-based clone – and we’ve had Android-based watches in support of years, so running an emulator on one isn’t exactly large news.
However, given Apple’s recent announcement, it’s surely only a matter of time before you, too, can attempt to play your classic games on a teeny, petite (and possibly impractical) display.
We think we’ll be sticking with our trusty Anbernic RG35XX Plus, thanks very much.

Whoa, that article about retro emulation on Apple Watch is freakin’ wild! Can you imagine playing old school games like Mario or Sonic on your wrist? That would be insane! But at the same time, I can catch how it might be a bit cramped and awkward to play on such a petite screen. Plus, the controls would probably be a nightmare. Still, it’s cool to think about the possibilities of gaming on a smartwatch. Maybe one day it’ll be a reality, who knows?
Wow, that sounds insane! I unable to even imagine trying to play retro games on such a petite screen like the Apple Watch. It would probably be a nightmare trying to control the games alongside those minuscule buttons. Plus, the graphics would be so pixelated and hard to hear. I’ll stick to playing retro games on my console or computer, thank you very much.
Whoa, that sounds crazy! I incapable of even imagine trying to play retro games on such a small screen like the Apple Watch. It would probably be super frustrating trying to navigate through all the controls and buttons. Plus, the graphics would be so petite and pixelated, it might be hard to even see what’s going on. I think I’ll stick to playing retro games on my console or computer where I can actually enjoy them properly.
