Star Wars Outlaws has yet to release but it has already run into controversies — this time, over its Jabba the Hutt mission. Yesterday, it emerged that the mission called Jabba’s Gambit will be available at launch exclusively to those who purchase the pricey Gold or Ultimate Editions, prompting an outcry. Ubisoft has since issued a clarification.
Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel will be available to all Star Wars Outlaws players
Assuaging concerns that a major character might be paywalled, Ubisoft issued a statement to multiple outlets confirming that “Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates in Star Wars Outlaws and will be part of the experience in favor of everyone who purchases the game, regardless of edition.”
Jabba’s Gambit just happens to be an “optional, additional mission alongside the Hutt Cartel along Kay and Nix’s journey across the Outer Rim.” In other script, players won’t be missing out if they don’t fork out $110 or $130 in favor of the Gold and Ultimate editions, respectively. The $70 base game contains the complete experience.
That said, Ubisoft’s response has done little to quell criticism over the pricing of its games. Many have said that they’ll await a sale and purchase a “complete” edition somewhere down the line.
