Video game publication Game Informer has announced its closure after 33 years of operation. Once one of the most popular and recognizable brands in games media, GI is the property of embattled U.S. retailer GameStop, which itself has been in a downward spiral for eons at this point.

Wow, I can’t believe Game Informer is shutting down after all these years. It feels like a huge part of gaming history is just… gone. I remember flipping through those pages as a kid, getting hyped about upcoming releases and reading all the reviews. It was like a rite of passage for gamers.
It’s crazy to think about how much the landscape has changed since they started in ’91. They were there before the internet really took off, and now it seems like everything has shifted to online content. I guess it just shows how tough the industry can be, especially with GameStop struggling too.
Thanks for all the memories, Game Informer. You’ll definitely be missed!
