A clash of kings.

Now that we’re swiftly approaching the one-year anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we suspect that many of you have likely completed the game at this stage. Even if you haven’t yet and are still mopping up those remaining Korok Seeds, it’s probably reasonable to assume that you’ve experienced enough of the game to conclude how it stacks up nexts to its predecessor, Breath of the Wild.

Take our lovely video Producer, Felix, for instance. In his latest video, he expresses how he much prefers Breath of the Wild to Tears of the Kingdom after having experienced both games. He goes into a good deal of detail about why this is the case, so we’d encourage you to watch the whole thing to fully understand his reasoning. That said, we gave both games a score of 10/10 here on Nintendo Life, and we absolutely adore them for different reasons.

Earlier this month, the world lost a one-of-a-kind creative talent with the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing. While Dragon Ball will always be Toriyama-sensei’s best-known work, he leaves behind a legacy full of many other imaginative worlds across games, anime, and manga. Before leaving us, he worked with Bandai Namco to flesh out one of […]

With Princess Peach: Showtime! now available on the Switch, Nintendo is beginning to turn its focus to the return of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Ahead of its release in May, it’s been sharing pre-order details and other information.

Now, to add to this, it’s released a two-minute story trailer and although there’s no gameplay footage, it seems to have got fans quite excited. As noted by many who played the original GameCube release, this storybook has now been animated. Here’s a comparison, courtesy of ‘PJiggles’ on social media:

Did it give you the ol’ razzle dazzle?

Last week, The Mushroom Kingdom’s beloved ruler made her solo Switch debut with Princess Peach: Showtime!, an impressive performance in an approachable production that gracefully leaps between genres and finally delivers a star vehicle for a woman that has spent too long out of the spotlight.

Our royal reviewer PJ O’Reilly came away most impressed by the princess’ performance, awarding it an 8/10 in his review and saying that, despite some technical snags, it has “creativity, style, and fun to spare,” with “Nintendo finally everyone’s favourite imaginary princess the rollicking adventure she deserves.”

We Myst you.

It’s been a minute since we highlighted a particularly impressive island from Animal Crossing. New Horizons, but we thought this one was worth it. We’ve seen many sublime efforts since the game launched back in March 2020, but the crossover appeal of mixing in another of video gaming’s great isles really tickled our nostalgia bone.

This particular example incorporates elements of Myst, the genre-defining environmental puzzle/adventure game that took over the world back in the ’90s.

‘New Year Better Me’ update arrives today.

When My Time at Sandrock sprouted onto Switch in November 2023, it’s safe to say that it wasn’t in the best condition. Aside from playing things a little too safe, the farm sim was awash with dull graphics and performance issues, making it far from the cream of the crop.

Fortunately, in the time since launch, developer Pathea Games has released a handful of updates to get things running a little smoother. Today, another one has arrived, with the ‘New Year Better Me’ free update bringing Sandrock up to ver. 1.2.2 in style.

Tune-a fish.

After last week’s Splatoon 3 music shenanigans (in which Nintendo uploaded and removed one track only to quickly replace it with another), you might assume that there would be a short break before we heard any more tunes from the Splatlands. But you would be wrong! This is Splatoon that we’re talking about, and new music waits for no man.

So we arrive at today’s addition to the pantheon of squid songs, ‘Suffer No Fools’. This one sees Pearl and Marina of Off the Hook facing off against ‘Fire & Ice’ (aka Shiver and Frye from Deep Cut) in a hard-hitting, abuse-hurling rap battle. Okay, it’s not that hard-hitting, but for four ink-based beings, there’s plenty of fire in the booth.
